Enter a World of Ancient Slavic Mythology, Magic and Folklore

Deep within enchanted forests, beneath endless winter skies and beyond the boundaries of the familiar world, ancient stories are waiting to be rediscovered.

Firebird Tarot by Baroque Publishing is a beautifully illustrated 80-card tarot deck inspired by Slavic mythology, folklore and traditional fairy tales. Combining the familiar structure of Rider-Waite-Smith tarot with a world of legendary figures, woodland spirits and supernatural beings, this independent deck invites you to explore the wisdom hidden within centuries of storytelling.

From the mysterious Baba Yaga to the radiant Firebird itself, every card opens a doorway into a landscape where magic and everyday life have always existed side by side.

Presented with forest-green gilded edges, luxurious linen-finish cardstock and a magnetic enclosure box, Firebird Tarot is as beautiful to handle as it is fascinating to explore.

Discover the Magic of Slavic Folklore

The inspiration behind Firebird Tarot began with the creator's fascination with traditional Slavic divination, particularly gadanie, a form of fortune-telling associated with ordinary playing cards.

That curiosity developed into a deeper exploration of Slavic mythology, where ancient beliefs survive through folktales, household traditions and stories passed between generations.

Within this richly imagined tarot world, familiar archetypes take on new identities:

  • The Fool: Ivanushka, the unlikely hero whose innocence and unconventional wisdom guide his journey.

  • The Hermit: Baba Yaga, the enigmatic figure of Slavic folklore who may offer wisdom, challenge or transformation.

  • Death: Marzanna, associated with winter, death and the changing seasons.

These mythological connections create an evocative reading experience while retaining the recognisable foundations of traditional tarot.

An Expanded 80-Card Tarot Experience

Firebird Tarot follows the Rider-Waite-Smith structure, with 56 fully illustrated Minor Arcana cards and an expanded collection of 24 Major Arcana cards.

The two additional Major Arcana cards, unlocked during the deck's successful Kickstarter campaign, offer further opportunities to explore the mythology and symbolism behind the deck.

The traditional suits are reimagined through Slavic-inspired names:

  • Posokhi: Wands

  • Kovshi: Cups

  • Sabli: Swords

  • Zlato: Coins

This combination of recognisable tarot symbolism and distinctive folklore makes Firebird Tarot particularly appealing to readers who enjoy exploring different cultural and mythological interpretations of the cards.

A Kickstarter Creation with Beautiful Finishing Details

Firebird Tarot received extraordinary support during its crowdfunding campaign, reaching approximately 1,600% of its original funding target.

That support helped unlock several enhancements to the finished deck, including linen-finish cardstock, gilded edges, a magnetic enclosure box and two additional Major Arcana cards.

The resulting edition combines detailed illustrations with thoughtful production features designed for both reading and collecting.

Why We Love It at Oneness Emporium

Some tarot decks capture your attention through their artwork. Others draw you in through their stories. Firebird Tarot manages both.

We particularly love the way its Slavic folklore themes sit alongside the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith structure, creating a deck that feels both accessible and wonderfully different.

The forest-green gilding, linen-finish cards and magnetic box are beautiful finishing touches, while the additional Major Arcana cards make this Kickstarter-funded edition especially interesting for collectors.

A captivating addition to our independent tarot collection, and a deck made for those who believe the oldest stories still have something to teach us.
