Across 78 hand-illustrated cards, weather, light and landscape become part of the emotional language of the tarot.

A Tarot About the Journey

Caminante Tarot is based upon the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, making its underlying structure accessible to experienced RWS readers while creating an artistic world entirely its own.

The landscape has deliberately been stripped back.

There are no walls defining where the traveller belongs and few structures containing the journey. Instead, enormous skies and open horizons create a feeling of possibility, uncertainty and movement.

The destination is rarely the point.

Caminante is interested in what happens to us while we're getting there.

When the Sky Becomes Part of the Reading

One of the most distinctive aspects of Caminante Tarot is its use of the sky.

Changing weather, shifting light and vast horizons reflect the emotional experience of the figures below.

A threatening sky can alter the feeling of a card. Light breaking through clouds can suggest possibility. Empty space can become freedom, solitude or uncertainty.

Rather than simply decorating the background, the landscape becomes another layer of tarot symbolism.

It makes Caminante particularly suited to intuitive reading, where atmosphere and emotional response can be explored alongside traditional card meanings.

Created by Hand

Caminante Tarot is hand illustrated by Polina Ipatova, giving the deck a cohesive artistic identity throughout all 78 cards.

The artwork balances human figures against wide landscapes, creating a sense of scale and movement that reinforces the deck's central theme of travelling through life rather than reaching a fixed destination.

Written and conceived by Olena Us, Caminante was brought to life with the support of more than 500 Kickstarter backers.

Caminante Tarot began as an independent Kickstarter project and attracted more than 500 backers, allowing its creators to unlock premium production upgrades including black-core cardstock, silver foiling, soft-touch lamination and matte black sparkling edges.

The result is a beautifully finished independent deck whose physical production reflects the atmosphere and care of the artwork itself.

We love the amount of space in these cards. The enormous skies, distant horizons and changing weather give the imagery room to breathe, while the silver foil and black edges give the finished deck just enough theatre.

And there is something wonderfully tarot about the idea at its centre.

You don't need to see the entire road.

Sometimes you just need to know which direction you're walking.

Although in our case the direction is currently hallway → photograph → Shopify → shelf.
