Journey into the Wild Wisdom of the Animal Kingdom
Now officially out of print. Once our remaining copies are gone, we may not be able to source this deck again.
What if every tarot archetype had an animal spirit waiting within it?
The Animal Totem Tarot by Leeza Robertson, beautifully illustrated by Eugene Smith, brings the wisdom of the animal kingdom into the familiar structure of tarot.
Across all 78 cards, animals become teachers, guides and mirrors, revealing instinctive layers of meaning within the traditional tarot archetypes.
From creatures that soar above the earth to those that swim beneath the water, stalk silently through forests or burrow beneath the ground, every animal brings its own behaviours, characteristics and symbolic wisdom to the reading.
Originally published by Llewellyn in 2016, Animal Totem Tarot was officially declared out of print in August 2026.
Our remaining copies are therefore part of the final new retail stock still circulating.
When they're gone, they're gone.
🐺 Where Tarot Meets Animal Wisdom
Animal Totem Tarot follows the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith tarot structure, making it immediately approachable for readers who already understand traditional tarot.
But instead of simply placing animals into familiar scenes, Leeza Robertson explores what each creature contributes to the meaning of its card.
The result is a deck that can be read through several overlapping languages:
Traditional tarot symbolism.
Animal behaviour.
Instinct.
Archetype.
Nature.
Intuition.
Eugene Smith's detailed illustrations bring these animals into landscapes that feel alive, allowing each creature to become the central voice of its card.

🌿 The Reading Experience
Animal Totem Tarot encourages you to look beyond keywords and ask what the animal itself is communicating.
How does it survive?
What are its natural strengths?
When does it retreat?
How does it protect itself?
Does it hunt alone or move within a community?
What happens when its natural behaviour is viewed through the archetype of the tarot card it inhabits?
This additional layer makes Animal Totem Tarot particularly rewarding for intuitive readers and anyone interested in developing a deeper relationship with the natural world.
Perfect For
Animal Totem Tarot is especially suited to:
Animal lovers • Tarot collectors • RWS readers • Nature-based practitioners • Pagan readers • Intuitive tarot readers • Animal symbolism study • Archetypal work • Tarot students • Collectors of discontinued decks
📚 More Than Just a Deck
One of the strengths of this set is the companion book.
At 384 pages, this is a substantial guide rather than a small introductory booklet, giving readers plenty of room to explore the relationship between the traditional card meanings and the animals chosen to represent them.
That makes Animal Totem Tarot particularly appealing for readers who enjoy understanding why a creator made particular symbolic choices rather than simply memorising another set of keywords.

🖤 Collector's Note – Officially Out of Print
Animal Totem Tarot was officially declared out of print by Llewellyn Worldwide on 18 August 2026.
This means no further standard print runs are expected from the publisher and availability will increasingly depend upon remaining retailer stock and the secondary market.
Oneness Emporium has secured a limited quantity of new copies while they are still available.
We do not manufacture artificial scarcity and we won't pretend to know what will happen to future collector prices.
What we can tell you is simple:
Llewellyn has discontinued the deck. Once our remaining copies have sold, we cannot guarantee that we'll ever be able to restock it.
🖤 Why We Love It at Oneness Emporium
There is something particularly sad about seeing a genuinely distinctive tarot deck disappear from publication.
Animal Totem Tarot doesn't simply replace people with pretty animals. Leeza Robertson and Eugene Smith created a system in which the nature of each creature adds another layer to the traditional tarot archetype.
And now that Llewellyn has officially retired the deck, we're delighted to preserve a few more new copies for readers and collectors who may have missed it during its ten years in print.
Because sometimes you don't realise a deck belongs in your collection until someone announces they're not making it anymore.
Tarot collectors are terribly inconvenient that way. 🐺
